RIP - in perspective

Let's also remember that today many other, non-famous, men, women, and children died around the world from starvation, AIDS, preventable diseases, childhood cancers, accidents, war, genocide, etc. By all means, "RIP" to the famous who passed, but let's keep things in perspective and reserve the word "tragedy" for the things that really deserve the title.
Not to say heart attacks and anal cancer aren't... dammit. You catch my meaning.

If I could give you a thousand e-props I would. I totally agree. While it is a more globally felt loss when someone renown dies, we should keep in mind that they are millions more unknowns out there leaving behind families and loved ones because of all of the things that you've listed and more. No, celebrities shouldn't necessarily be ignored but perhaps we just need to keep everyone else in mind too.
